Laurel graduated from Apple Valley High School with an art emphasis. Her school's large art department offered a variety of media, exposing her to pottery, casting, enameling, and more. She earned her art degree at SCSU, resulting in several art/design positions including in the art department of the West Central Tribune newspaper. She has a strong background in graphic design/desktop publishing.
