Bonnie Smith
After working for 46 years in the public and private sector, it was my goal to spend my retirement years painting, drawing, quilting and creating beauty. I didn’t have any formal art training during my youth, however, as an adult I’ve attended workshops both online and in person given by Marney Ward, Katia Andreeva, Karen Knutson, Rose Edin, Jan Hart, and Karlyn Holman. I’m also a founding member of the Creating Art Together (C.A.T.) group which meets every Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. As a child growing up on a dairy farm in rural Minnesota I was instilled with a love for everything rural….. rural folk…..the prairie landscape…..old barns….farm kids…..heirloom gardens and florals. I also enjoy painting subjects I’ve photographed during travel tours in England, Ireland, Italy and the West and East Coast. My work is primarily in watercolor, watercolor pencil, colored pencil, and more recently, acrylic pouring and alcohol ink on yupo.
My goals are simply to enjoy creating art. I’m not concerned with making money on my art. I’ve completed several commissioned pieces and have donated 10 or more original works of art to community fund raisers.
